Témoignages de parents

Hello prospective L’Essor families!

Back when our kids were small, being English speaking parents, we were a bit nervous about enrolling them in a full French education. It was a big decision. We are glad to have done it because as it turns out,  they all thrived. They embraced the Francophone culture and we were pretty thrilled when each of them made L’Essor to be their high school of choice. The support & guidance in a smaller school setting that they’ve received has been pretty great.

Our eldest graduated from L’Essor approximately five years ago and when he was taking a university level math course, he found himself to be struggling a bit. He had a previous connection at L’Essor with a resource teacher in the student centre. This resource teacher worked with our son (after hours) and helped him to grasp the math concepts to succeed in the end. This is just one example of the staff at L’Essor going above & beyond to support our students.

This time last year, I received a cancer diagnosis. I reached out to my children’s guidance councillor and explained what was going on at home. I am very grateful for this councillor who took the time to reach out to all of my kid’s teachers & coaches to ask them to kind of keep an extra ear on each of my children to make sure that they were supported during that worrisome time. We got through it and it was wonderful to hear from my children that teachers, coaches & staff occasionally approached them to check in on their emotional status and to inquire about how I was doing.

Needless to say, the full French diploma that they can obtain is absolutely worth encouraging your children to attend L’Essor High School.
Our two boys are now continuing their education in the USA on baseball scholarships. They are thriving and getting fantastic grades. I believe having the French education under their belts may have even assisted in making their required Spanish classes a bit less difficult.

Our third child is currently a student in tenth grade at L’Essor. She’s really enjoying her days at L’Essor and much like her brothers, is quite active on several of L’Essor’s athletic teams. She is not yet sure which direction she’ll be headed for her post secondary education, but I feel confident that as a well-rounded student athlete she will be prepared.

Parents and future high school students.....
You are at a time in your academic career when you are making some very important
decisions. You students are about to leave your friendly and familiar elementary school
environment and move on to high school. This is no doubt exciting and perhaps a little bit
nerve-wracking! Choosing l’Essor will certainly make this transition much easier.
As a volunteer coach of multiple teams at l’Essor for the past 16 years and a father of two
Aigles, please allow me to give my insights.....
From offering the opportunity to play on very competitive sports teams in every sport
imaginable to participating in incredible dramatic arts performances, and an inspired,
lively and strong music program....the list of reasons to come be an Aigle are absolutely
endless.
Our school’s size.... is in my opinion, is one of it’s biggest advantages. L’Essor is big
enough to offer everything else that the largest schools in the county have to offer without
being so big that you will get “lost in the shuffle”. If you are an athlete and hope to play
multiple sports, l’Essor is the place to be! Attending the larger schools in Essex County
means competing with 2-3 times the number of students for limited positions on their
teams. It’s for this reason that many great athletes at the big schools sadly never get the
opportunity to represent their school.
If you require extra help to achieve your academic goals through the support of your IEP,
l’Essor is well known for it’s success helping students with learning disabilities. They go
above and beyond to support every type of learner and prepare their students to excel in
the competitive post secondary world.
Truth be told though, the biggest reason why you can’t go wrong becoming an Aigle is
because of the people here. l’Essor is an absolutely wonderful place full of wonderful
people who will work diligently to put you in a place to be successful. You all come here
with dreams about your future and what you want out of life. Nothing is more important to
the staff here than you achieving your dreams.
I wish you luck with this very big decision. Rest assured that you need to look no further
than Ecole Secondaire l’Essor to find your high school home. Complete your full French
education in the absolute finest school in Windsor/Essex.
Warmest regards,
